Who eats black locust?

image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp Was pruning a mature black locust today, tree is stressed, sprouting along all main stems, dieback at many tips, pencil eraser sized exit holes and frass throughout the tree. Some branches broke with very little pressure revealing hollowed out tubes inside limb.
Anyone have any ideas or info?
This is PNW. Thank you in advance.

Kevin, USFS needs to update their publication. In Utah and I suspect other states as well, Lindane has been banned for over 10 yrs.

Thanks PC and oldoakman, your point is very well taken. That document is way out of date...and frankly illegal in most/all places!
I referenced it solely for ID purposes, not for management, but of course the original poster and other interested parties wouldn't know that!
That entire "FIDL" series is not only out-of-date, it is discontinued and not to be updated by the Forest Service, as I understand the situation.
Apologies all around.

Thanks guys for the responses. Thanks KT for the link, I found that article as well, was wondering about its cred. That's our best guess, we will advise the customer. Seems like the tree is on it's last legs here.
Thanks again!
