Whistle

A couple of months ago I bought a large day pack. After looking at several outdoor stores I settled on an Osprey.

When I was reading the set-up directions I realized that they have a whistle built into the sternum strap. Is that clever or what?! Now I see that the buckle can be ordered. The whistle is actually pretty loud too.

My work whistle is a Fox 40. The whistle is hung on one of the neck lanyards that you get from trade shows. The plastic name badge clips to a y-shaped piece. This is nice because the y piece is a break-away so that I don't have to worry about getting garoted [sp?] from a branch.

Tom, the whistle buckle link company will send out samples for evaluation, up to 15 of whatever you want! I ordered a few whistle buckles and a few shock cord squeezer clips. I will let you know how the order for "samples" pans out.

got a nice bubble envelope today in the mailbox. had 10 whistle buckles in it and 6 shock cord springy end things. too cool. all compliments of ITW Nexus. Cool little gadget, I have already given them all away but the one I am keeping for mysself.

I also have a fox whistle, but didn't ever use it because I didn't have a good way of carrying it around. I wear a Camelbak water system and now have it tied up with throw line to a loop in the back and routed the wistle over my shoulder inside one of the shoulder straps -they are hollow to allow the drinking tube to come down. It is tucked in there snugly, but can be pulled out quickly without losing it. Those camelbaks are great for staying hydrated, groundie uses one too and is much more productive fully hydrated.
