Where\'s PPE!!

Amazing that a large competitor of mine pictured on the front page of the Sunday paper (link http://lancasteronline.com/) is pictured a cutting tree down without PPE. When is the tree industry going to get some regulations that are inforced. I get tired of reading about tree related accidents because people just aren't being safe. Just needed to vent.

The link didn't work. But I hear ya! I would rephrase the question as, When is this industry going to start taking itself seriously as professionals that follow regulations without having the need of someone to police us?

We really have to move away from the macho BS and act like professionals. I know many of the buzzers are pros but outside of here things revert to the "rugged individualist" attitude. Sorry but we are in an industry and our attitudes and actions impact everyone else within it whether it be public perception or insurance rates.

TH I can't agree with you more!!

When I first learned to climb in 1969, I was told to untie and walk out on a limb of a big dead Elm and trim a branch..back then I said 'that was unsafe',,,we no longer use manila rope or one D ring saddles with a batten seat. but the machoism continues...

PS: I STILL WON'T WALK THAT LIMB....
