Mechanical or rope on rope?
Why you prefer your system?
Are you switch hitting between systems?
Is Removal or pruning your principle work?

Any other comments appreciated?

Re: What is you primary system?

I use the Spider jack primarily and incorporate the Singing Tree Rope Wrench often during a climb.
I also routinely use a foot, sternal and handle ascenders and yo-yo between drt and srt.
I mostly prune but thoroughly enjoy removing Invasive non indigenous species.
Majority of my climbs are hardwoods multi-stemmed.

Finally getting a good soak here in Southern Ontario

Thanks for your input.

I'm a rope on rope....old school dope...demolition dog!

What do you trust more, trees or bucket trucks?

Trees are my "Primary System".

Re: What is you primary system?

Hi there,

I use rope on rope, but I'm interested in switching to the spiderjack and I do whatever I can removal or pruning.

Re: What is you primary system?

Most days it's rope (hitch cord) on rope whether DdRT or with Rope Wrench on SRT. Tall tree entry with multi-point ascenders (Pantin, Croll, Handled).

Re: What is you primary system?

Rope wrench on most pruning and hand removals
Ddrt small crane removals if I'm not going to b tied into the tree
Rope wrench large crane removals when I stay tied into a central lead the entire time

Re: What is you primary system?

Ddrt mostly. Rope on rope. Wrench occasionally when it is suitable still rope on rope and a pantin. I trust rope.

Re: What is you primary system?

rope on rope ddrt, mechanical for accession and slack tending of my lanyard. May look into this singing rope wrench though. I switch through a variety of it all, as being versatile in many systems and their applications can get you out of some funny situations. I don't mind either, I prefer removals though. x2 on this rain, thank god.

Re: What is you primary system?

Single line rope wrench 95% of the time pruning, removals or christmas lights large and small. Other 5% dDrt off the crane (only because i cant figure out how to make srt work effectivly).

Re: What is you primary system?

DdRT rope on rope! Tried and true VT with a hitchclimber pulley = smooth as silk! Pantin for accession. Rockgrab for lanyard tending. SRT and a wrench on the very near horizon though!

Re: What is you primary system?

I'm still climbing on a distel, with an HRC eye-to-eye. And for some reason I bought the mouse pulley instead of a hitch climber. I will probably make the switch soon. I havn't quite figured out the whole SRT thing yet but I am interested in learning.

Re: What is you primary system?

I use a spiderjack DDRt for the most part with a pulley saver.I found that it works best with velocity because of the smaller diameter.

Re: What is you primary system?

I do way more removals than pruning, mostly because trees here are dying left and right. All species of all ages, it's crazy how many are dying.

I always climb with 2 lanyards, really helps in getting in those akward positions sometimes and occasionally use one to catch small limbs I'm tossing down by hand. I can keep my second tie in and have both hands on my saw.

removals - ddrt with sewn ocean hitch cord (i ordered a spliced but got shipped and charged for a sewn) with 3-wrap distel hitch

pruning or joy climbing - I ascend with a grigri and hand ascender with a footloop and switch to ddrt or progress climb alternating lanyards until I get to my desired tip, since most trees in my area I can only set a rope about 1/2 way up. If it's too big around to monkey hump from there or if branches are too far apart I will toss my rope up, so I carry a throwball in those situations.

I've made a deal with a family member to take down about 5 oaks next to a barn in exchange for him buying me a bigshot kit, I'll use those as target practice

Can't wait! I'm gonna love that thing

I'm going to seal the deal on a wrench and hitchclimber pulley soon but I just finished doing alot of work to my vehicles and need to get that paid & all the bugs worked out before I go spending money on more gear.
