Water work

We were working on a Twp contract where we had to remove all trees within 15' of the center line of a stream. There were four blocks to cut through. Here's one section when we started it.

Nice tidy job. What was the purpose of the work? It may sound stupid but do they simply want to encourage errosion of the banks through the destruction of the root structures binding it together?

Good point. As I understand it, they are constatntly overflowing during rain storms. They attribute much of this to flow being reduced by debris and living trees. Some of these plots are even going to be piped and then filled. We'll see how it goes.

Interesting,

I've only heard of restoring Riparian Zones not, ahhh...oh, never mind.

This is certainitly not a hack against you Mark, more the municipality.

Nice log truck there.

Very nice truck indeed Mark... Does your operation own that bad boy or was it a rental/contract? My company does a lot of crane removals but we always contract a local crane operator, usually with a 40 or 70 ton but we do have a HIAB on two of our trucks: very usefull. The only drawback to the HIAB is its reach... it could never have performed that job of yours. Having a lift arm on your truck opens a world of possibilities in tight situations.

As for the new stream conditions... the photo speaks volumes. Ecologial suicide.

geez, around here you need divine intervention if you want to take a tree down within 15 meters of the crest of the bank. looks like you guys did a tidy job Mark. :)

Yeah, we own it.

As for the stream, I don't really understand the engineer's ideas here? I know that two properties were eroding under their lawn space and was undetectable unless you looked over their fence from the stream side. That is scary to think of a kid playing and then being sucked through the ground. But, I really wasn't there for the bid process and can't really say why they did things like this?
