Washing chainsaw protective pants

I got my second pair of chainsaw pp(Stihl loggers) a couple weeks ago and I couldn't find any washing instructions in the package. I know that special care should be taken when washing but I never really worried about it with my last pair. Is it something that I should be concerned about?

There website just says wash and wear, nothing special. The tag on mine just says not to dry on a high setting. Other than that wash as normal.

if you do accidentally dry them on high they will "puff" up a bit and feel real snug in the legs - fine in the winter a bit too warm in the summer

peace,

If your chaps contain kevlar take care to avoid chlorine. Any chlorine bleach/detergent can be very hard on fabrics like kevlar and nomex.

The way most chaps work is the chain grabs loose weave long fibers and those fibers jam the clutch/sprocket. It is important on some chaps that oil and dirt are not allowed to matt those fibers. When matted, those fibers are easier to cut through.
So keeping chaps clean is of merit.

Mostly do what the label or manufacturers web site says.

Here's the instructions for Stretch Air chainsaw pants. I use woolite or some kind of nikwax tech wash, they are not as harsh on the high-tech fabrics.

Ironing the schoeller fabric is supposed to renew the water repellency, but I havn't tried it yet.

Thanks Russ!
