Virginia Tech has created an app that provides most, if not all of the tree & shrub data sheets from thier website.

see the bottom of this page (VT Factsheet/key page)

The app is called VTree. It's been out for android for a while. VTree Download on Google and just came out for Iphone: Vtree for Iphone

I'm not sure about the android version but the iPhone version needs to be downloaded via emial sent to your phone. It took me a while to sort that out as it went to my desktop first and I tried to forward the messsage which didn't work.

Anyhow I've given it a test run and have to say it will probably be very much a goto app for me from now on.

Hope someone else finds a good use for it as well!

Rick the android version can be downloaded right from the playStore. Its a good app, but lots of space needed. It takes a bit to get familiar with the way it works but once you figure it out it is helpful. thanks

I installed the iOS version. A lot of the info is just showing as "null."

Maybe it needs to download more info for my location. Has potential to be super awesome. Hope it improves.

Nick, I had a problem with it at first as well. I was not coming up with a return on my searches. It turned up to be the location that was causing the problem. Let your mobile divice lock your location and it will probably work better.
Also I think there is a way to get "all" matches, but I dont remember how I did it.

The tree ID app works good for me. I installed it on my phone like a month ago and found some trees in their i had never heard of. I been using it to help me learn the scientific names of trees and just as a little learning tool.

This is a great app, good use of storage space. Thanks to Virginia Tech. Nice to see people and institutions interested in sharing education to the masses.
