Killed poplars on Galusha Hill in Topsham, VT today. The view is looking east down into the Connecticut River Valley into the White Mountains of NH.

this is a bit earlier, the morning mist is still hanging down in the valley and the colors are just poking through...

Nice! I have some really similar pics from rec climbing in White River Junction. Looks almost like the same view!

(PS - My avatar pic is from up there, too.)

Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days of the season. I've been looking around pretty hard, and Vermont turns out to be the place that I love the most. Every time I turn my head the beauty just floors me. I am so happy to be living here full time!
Tai, whats the point of climbing trees if your not gonna appreciate the view? In my opinion not much... K Holzer would tell me "Get it done, but make sure to take a few to appreciate how lucky you are"
so true!

I spent last week up in the Adirondacks of New York State doing tree work on the lakes. Lots of these 'camps' are boat access only. Here is a view from the top of a mighty hemlock looking out over Spitfire Lake and east into the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mts. One of those is Whiteface Mt. (1980 winter olympics).

Jeffswede: too bad the clouds lifted... That view above them is awesome.
Treeguy: Yeah the adk is amazing. I live over in VT but try and spend a couple weeks over there on "vacation", there is so much water to explore. Great canoeing and great trees!

I am an Adirondack hiker. Hence the username. Actually I also own a woodlot up there. Hence the username. Hence also how I winded up climbing trees (spending too much time on tree sites, lol). I haven't been a any altitude with my gear but it looks like fun.
