TreeStuff and SherrillTree Join Forces

So, I'll write the first impression and a quick takeaway - a short disclaimer; I don't have any product development interests, had never experienced a problem with either company, and am just a small business owner interested in safe, quality gear:

1. I don't think there is a large conspiracy by either party to "screw" their clients through a merger. We all think we are self-important; but I truly believe the merger makes good business sense for all 3 stakeholders: customer's, TreeStuff, and Sherrill.

2. Both arms will now be able to streamline and leverage their human, vendor, and financial assets to improve product development, cost negotiation, and shipping. This is all with the customer's needs in mind.

3. Sherrill is working hard to overcome the negative experiences folks have had in the past and to change company culture - it takes time.

4. Both TS and Sherrill share a vision to be visible and engaged with their clientele and to meet their needs in the field. They have a plan and are putting it into practice.

5. There is no ivory tower - it's real people, working hard to make the best decisions, and all are passionate about safety, quality, and price point.

6. There are some interesting and exciting products coming down the pipeline that are designed for all levels of climbers and range of budgets.

7. A bit of inside baseball - but, there are a lot of tough decisions that need to be made, and when examined as an outsider, they seem counterintuitive. But, when facts are presented, they make sense for customers and the business.

8. Reach out to Tripp or Nick if you have any questions or concerns. They want to hear from you.

9. My only disappointment was that I didn't get to swim in the money pit, stay in the penthouse, or get a flight on the private jet - because they don't exist.

Well, Thats great! But TreeStuff has changed. I have order over 10K in gear this year. Sure not a major spender, but any of my customers who spend 10K are treated like gold in my company.
Everything is back ordered. I placed a 1500 dollar order, didn't receive chainsaw pants for one of my guys. Call tree stuff Twice, still no one know what the hell is going on. Kask helmet ordered is back ordered, no idea when that is going to get here.
I hired a new guy and promised him a pair of chainsaw pants and a new mask helmet. I am trying to be that owner that provides good gear to their employees. Sucks when your employees are pissed and feel like your giving them the run around when they ask about where their gear is and I have to keep saying back ordered, misplaced in shipping, etc.

Are we talking about Pfanner pants?

I really do think there is some truth in the whole underlying trend here. Everyone here is in "business" growth and development, and with that everyone desires quality and consistency. Sherrill tree has let me down every time i have placed an order that I just can't even bear the sight of their catalog without having a visceral response. There really isn't a worse feeling than calling customer service and feeling like they think i am trying to take advantage of them. I just want the product i ordered. Treestuff has been a beacon of light with customer service and delivery of product in an efficient time frame. Since about mid June for me, treestuff interactions have made my guts turn. Backorder after backorder, email delivery scrambled to multiple people, Phone conversations along the lines of "I will look into this," only to hear nothing back. The loss of consistency really hurts. I used to have two top handles that were sent in. One was for warranty repair, and one was to see if their saw repair was still a representation of their previous delivery on quality. This was months ago, now i am wondering if i will at least get 2k in Lukes bucks for their value or i should have a memorial for their existence. What it really boils down to, if a supplier can't deliver a business can't deliver, and in the end, we both lose.

And also, I don't mean to bash. But nick said they go out of their way to make things right. I don't know if I am a valued customer or not, but extra boxes in the mail and extra stickers, doesn't mean a whole lot to the end product. holographic stickers don't entertain the tree professional customer for "2 to 3 week" back order. they wanted their work done yesterday as it is.

Back orders are a factor of being extremely busy and European suppliers that can't deliver.

It makes my stomach turn as well knowing we can't get the stuff you guys want.

The email scrambling was my fault I changed a setting in our CRM and broke something. It took me a minute to fix it but I did.

Can you send me details about these saws you sent in?

Yeah, they addressed the supplier distribution issues that is hitting everyone across the industry - best to talk to Nick and Tripp directly. Their answers satisfied me. It's that inside baseball stuff, and it isn't really my place to explain it

But simply, of the product we use, such as pfannner, kask, petzl, etc., - Tree Care only accounts for 5% of the market share. So the other 95% of the market gets priority - even as a merged and more leveraged company - they get treated as last on the totem pole.

If the products you want aren't available and the supply company isn't coming through, then I'd buy a different product that is available.

If Tesla forecasts only 500k vehicles sold, but they get a million orders, there is a shortage and wait list. Then if you live in Europe and want a Tesla - there is customs and whole other slew of hoops to jump through.

I don't know what "inside baseball" means but, i understand there is a lot that goes on behind the scene. The lack of supply is pervasive, and we are not talking about cars to look cool in to go to a cube job. We are talking about specialized products that people get brand specific about. Professional athletes are extremely neurotic about their equipment.

Like I was trying to explain - we (tree guys) think we are the top of the market for this specialized gear. We aren't. Pfanner, Petzl, Kask, etc. sell to larger industries than tree care and are located in different countries. Tree Care is a small fish to them - 5% of the market.

Your complaint should be to the manufacturer who doesn't take our 5% purchasing power seriously. You've developed brand loyalty to a product that isn't putting you as a priority

Corporate head quarters are like, "We don't want to screw up Treestuff ect ect..., but we have a code"

as the british pound to dollar and euro to dollar become closer to 1:1 why don't we see similar lack of availability in european markets. are americans markets consuming that much more? In all realness, i know Americans like to consume, but is it that off set. european suppliers have stock.
