Tore open my splice

Thought I'd share a picture of a PI splice I tore open to try and get a better understanding of how a splice works. The buried core starts at about 13.5 inches from throat of eye, and the buried core at about 6 inches. My whiplock which sits at about 2.25 inches from throat appears to capture half of the full core and half of it as it begins to taper (I'm not sure if that is normal or not)

That's about as perfect as you could ask, or expect. There's another thread where someone made slices at 1" increments to see how the splice actually laid out in layers. It was extremely informative and amazing to see how all the components worked in concert with each other. I wish I could find it, again.
