I review a new product called the Vista Stick. The Vista Stick is basically the most revolutionary thing since a boat oar in the field of vista pruning. Pure goldberg-esqe simplicity.

that rig you set up to hold the weight is smart.

You cant be serious about climbing that trash? I did the same vista last year and we did it with one guy in the briars with a pole pruner and one guy on top yelling, left-right-right-left-forward, yeah that one....After doing that about 300 times we got it done. When I heard we were doing it again I thought of a better way.

Nice! I always love new inventions and methods.

Watching the video made me think about the possibility of designing a setup using a camera jib crane

I'd want to make it easy to adjust distance, probably something like variable length boom arm for both load and counterweight. Mounting the pruner head probably wouldn't be too hard, with a strong enough arm and pivot, the blade weight could be offset by a small counterweight so a relatively small(ie inexpensive) servo could be used for angle adjustment.

Probably not exactly a cheap invention, but if you've got a lot of vistas like that one, it might earn it's keep quickly enough.

Sheesh, isn't the mind a strange thing. Woke up out of a dead sleep laughing hard enough to wake my wife. The dream was an infomercial, starring a cross between John Wayne and Billie Mays, hawking my cantilevered trimmer creation as the "Long Arm of the Lawn"
