Teufelberger's new Platinum rope!

Re: Teufelberger\'s new Platinum rope!

What kind of climbing rope is this Taylor? Similar to Tachyon? The link did not give a description.

Re: Teufelberger\'s new Platinum rope!

EN 1891:A ...Low Stretch Kernmantle

10.5mm diameter. Available in Nylon/Nylon or Nylon/Polyester (core/cover)

Excellent for arborist ascent. Footlocking, single line ascent, single line work positioning.

Very interesting stretch behavior and characteristics.

Re: Teufelberger\'s new Platinum rope!

10.5mm seems a bit small for the hands. The cover gave it away for being a kernmantle static type rope.

Re: Teufelberger\'s new Platinum rope!

Different rope than Escalator. Platinum uses a process to inter-braid the core and cover. Nylon core with a choice of Nylon or Polyester cover. Less sheath slippage, excellent shock absorption without being bouncy. Stretch is less than KMIII but more than Globe 5000, for example. The stretch, when it happens, is quite unique. The shock absorption is there when you need it, but not as noticeable during ascent. Platinum is really great for footlocking, IMO.

Here's a link in German. See page 45

Pretty sure you need a ticket or badge.

Are we looking at something similar to Yale's Kernmaster's properties? If so, you have my full attention.

Re: Teufelberger\'s new Platinum rope!

What about knot ability? After loaded is it stiff or does it stay flexible and soft. I agree as work positioning goes 10.5 would be to small for me. Any chance they make it in a 12 or greater?
