When you are doing your final taper on the core before you milk it back in, How much is too much? are there any slick tricks for getting the perfect taper every time?

What rope we talking bout here?! If it's blaze, tachyon and the like, I bury an extra inch than recommended so I can make a longer, smoother taper. On softer lines like rigging lines, I might go a couple few inches extra. Long slow tapers help bring the whole thing together mo betta.

Also, After making that last mark, I cut off a little shy of the mark so that it all sucks in easy. I hate when I make the tail an hair too long and you get that little fluffy tip of the tail sticking out at the very end. Since I am making the tail long in the first place, it's okay if I cut it "shorter" at the end.
