Sugar Shack Fun

We had the chance to work in this incredible forest last week. We had to remove one big sugar maple because the owner is building a new garage and I had to climb this beautiful one to remove half of it. We have told the owner that synthetic cable could have be good enought to secure the tree , the idea was to put 3 branch saver, 4 tons cable. But he decide to remove the section over the building instead , and he was happy with the light opening that was create , so the smaller maple could grow a bit faster. It was a peaceful place to work , but the winds where a bit strong , so we decide to put this strap to secure the tree during the removal. Hope you enjoy!

Watch it in HD the canopy look so good!

The only thing that would make me want to leak in my shorts was your primary life line being horizontal, I believe that was what I was seeing, it appeared that you were above your TIP, hard to say for sure, cameras can be deceiving.

Nice video. I like how you ran the pinto with the attachment on the bottom for a second line. I mean using the tail for a second system.

Thanks Steve , last week we were talking about something that we would never change on ours harness , and for me it was the pinto on my lanyard , I use it like that all the time , 25 foot of km111 . My partner got the zion and always tell me how fun it is to operate. But I ain't changing for nothing.

Great video, shame the trunk split, I've got one that's a few meters taller and almost 4X the canopy. Unfortunately, it's hanging over 2 homes by 80-85%. Definitely going to be a challenge. I've got no LZ.
Will a side line aka zip line work in your situation?

Unfortunately, the split is causing the trees to lean over both residences, both of which are 2 story houses, so I only have 15-20' of working space. 3' from each home, edge of trunk to eaves. It's gonna take a lot of tension so not to have limbs damage the homes. Great idea though, thanks for the idea!
