Stihl MSA 220T C-O or MSA 300

Does anyone have either/or? Looking for quality reviews. I can only watch so many videos of not so quality reviewers.

I don't have either, I've got 2 of the husqvarna t540ixp and the stihl msa161t, I'll never go back to a gas tophandle the t540ixp are my primary climbing saw I got the stihl first and it's great just not as capable but seems better built it's just a smaller. For me I don't think the 300 would make sense big cuts kill the batteries pretty fast and usually I'm not making a big enough number of them in a tree that having to pull start a saw is annoying or slows down progress.

This saw..?if so.. is not as powerful as I would have expected , ap300 battery series, they said the ap300s version could help, I dunno bout that ..saws Okay for the occasional larger pruning cut or small takedown saw. I've done no side by side comparisons. The balance feels pretty good not perfect. For reference, maybe cuts little quicker than 151 and slower than 201. I don't husky around anymore since early 2000s every saw we bought then ended up being problems. That said I tried a friend's new battery husk and that thing ripped , maybe he had made the kerf smaller with his bar / chain setup than stock , think he had sugihara bar can't remember too well.. that's what I'm goin to do on the 220 tc. no experience with 300

The chain on the huskies is smaller than the stock chain on the stihl 201 not sure if the 220tc is the same size. Arbsession.com sells conversion kits to the oregon speed cut nano which is what comes on the husqvarna saws.

I have the ms 220 with ap300s batteries. No experience with the husky 540i. Never liked the 540xp. Ms 220 great for small removals, limbing, pruning. Cutting wood wears the battery down fast. So it doesn't replace the 201, but complements nicely. It is my go to top handle. But I bring the 201 with usually especially when working remote, i only have 2 batteries. I usually run a 5 saw outfit, only have 4 at the moment. I will get a ms300 in the spring to complement the 362, and I have a 661 also.

I replied to Donny in a separate message, but thought you folks would need to hear this as well.

We have about 100 hrs on an MSA 300. It’s probably our biggest regret as far as saw purchases go. For $1300 (saw & 500AP batt, already had a charger) we expected “WOW” performance and utility. Instead, I don’t know if I believe the 271 equivalence claim. It definitely is not close to a 261C. My expectations may be unreasonable, but most other folks I’ve met who own one are equally unimpressed.

On the other hand, we love the MSA 220 rear handle. It handles really well and makes a great brush and chipper saw. With a 300AP battery, it definitely lasts as long as a tank of gas.

The grab-and-go feature is nice with battery saws. The weight and balance of the 220 (rear handle) is pretty good, but the 300 feels heavy; because it is… .

We also have the 220 top handle. It cuts well, but is also heavy. The jury is Stihl out on the ergonomics. Probably unrealistic expectations again.
