Stihl Clone Saws???

Someone flogged a box/basket case MS400C-M on me few days ago. However, it's all orange plastic no white, kind of angular, the model designation is a sticker etc you get the picture (hopeless similarity-wise) counterfeit saw. I haven't put a tool to it yet. Anyone else seen one like this?

edit - there's a fakery sticker MS400C-M on the pull start but a clever dodge on the upper cover "Stihl" logo where upon a closer look small printing "uses a " big logo letters "STIHL" and small letters after "20 inch bar" so legally CYA they're just making a statement and not trying to impersonate Stihl! still haven't put a tool to it.

Not seen one but, indeed a counterfeit. Stihl serial numbers are on the saw body, above the clutch cover, and right behind the dawg. It's usually covered with carbon from the exhaust. If indeed it's a Stihl, repainted or something, you can have the number run at your local dealer.

This sounds like a good idea for learning to port a saw! I would definitely take my chances learning on a cheap saw that I know was new and fully funtional when I started.

My friend here has the full monty of clones both Husky and Stihl. All with heavy port work. Damn they are nice. But the amount of hardwood I cut yearly, they would just blow ta fuck up. You can feel their cheapness. Plus what more saws do I need. 2 of mine are properly ported. Rest stock except the 3 , 201TCs. They have muffler mods and advanced timing. Run like dreams two are new replacement for 2 I sold.
