Stihl 044 temporary Start Pull "Lock-up" when Hot

My 044 runs great. Easy to start w/ just a few very easy pulls when cold.

When hot, the starter cord "locks-up" when I make the first pull try. (I assume this is in the engine.)

The second pull try is easy & the saw starts right up, runs normal.
1. What is happening ?
2. Why ?

Premature detonation? Or it's just high compression. Some might tell you to pull like a man...

Saws have a tendency to have a difficult first turn over when hot. Something about metal expansion and contraction and air cooling in the saw makes the first turn tough sometimes, or every time. My 200t does this from time to time. Stops it dead in its tracks. I've compensated by just giving a sharp pull every time.

I assume it's because turning the engine over partially allows the hot expanded air out and some cool air in?

I have a ported mod saw, Dolmar 7910, that's like that. Easy to start cold, but once it gets hot, the compression release is no help... it pops with about 2" of cord pull. With the high compression and timing advance on this beast, it can hurt pulling on it. I gotta pretty much give it everything I've got and hope I don't break my arm...
