Stihl 011AV

Friend of my dad was cleaning out his garage and gifted us this really nice 011AV. Looked like it was used once and put away. Put fresh premix in it and it fired right up. Had to replace bar oil line and gasket on but this baby is about to wake up after a 40+ year nap. Sounds like a dirt bike.

I'll pre-emptively ask....anyone have spare parts for this saw if I start breaking things?

Hey Phil NICE!

I have an 012 AV from the late 80's and I still (insert pun here) can find parts, AND 45 cc PLENTY of spunk.

Here is a link from a place in the UK I bought the "Throttle Trigger Lock" 2 years ago, that I noticed is missing on your saw. COULD NOT find this part in the USA! UK had it.

#'s 2,3 and 4 will take care of that one, and cold starts will be safer once again!

I use this place too: https://sawagain.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2Oe30_efiAMV221HAR2YBA0WEAAYASAAEgIyIPD_BwE

As well as this place Lil' Red Barn: https://www.ebay.com/itm/185210066834?_trkparms=amclksrc=ITM&aid=1110006&algo=HOMESPLICE.SIM&ao=1&asc=272621,272223&meid=8734a24566214518947b7634ea53491a&pid=101224&rk=4&rkt=5&sd=185210097032&itm=185210066834&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2332490&algv=DefaultOrganicWebWithV11WebTrimmedV3ImageSimRankerWithCassiniEmbRecallWithEbertRecall&_trksid=p2332490.c101224.m-1

.325 sprocket 7 tooth so I can run .063 chain on an 18" bar.

And Baileys for the Bar and chain. A074 Mount on the 012 and the SAW HAS the power for it!

Thanks for the links. When I got the saw the little push button throttle lock was there. It lasted one session before the cap popped off which let the spring fall out. The pin is captive and floats so when I was using the saw on it's right side, the pin would fall into place and keep the throttle locked in. Not safe at all lol. I just took the pin out and have no plans to replace it. This saw starts on a few pulls without locking the throttle. The other links might prove to be useful. It's currently running 3/8 picco chain in .050. I'm going to keep that setup.

My first climbing saw was my 009 AV. Used it on removals. It did okay for what I could afford starting out. For limb removals and pruning's, I used an old McCulloch Eager Beaver. Top handle saw with manual oiler. I put an 18'' bar on that sucka. Man it was lightweight and had some serious reach.

Those were my climbing arsenal that accompanied my 036 Pro.
