Stein 'small' Lowering devices

Re: Stein \'small\' Lowering devices

Ever thought about a bungee or elastic between the top anchor point and the device? It would eliminate having to keep the slings pushed up/down.

No I never had that thought, not sure about involving bungees with LDs to be honest. Pushing the slings apart once in a while is not unreasonable either. But thanks for watching the vid and stating what came to mind.

Keep an eye on the sponsered links on TB. The Stein USA site ought to be there within a couple of weeks. The products will be available through other retailers in the USA also. Sorry I cant tell you more but its not my department.

The Harness is the Skylotec Kolibri.

Thanks

Do you have a department with them Reg, in say research and development, or are you a private contractor working for them?

None of my business, just curious. You have such great engineering developments that I'm sure that either Stein or you would trademark to protect your investment.

Look forward to the next development. I heard Gerry B. saying that he was going to be over to see you in May? This would be the perfect time to collaborate with him on some rigging DVD's. Just think what the two of you could produce together!

Sorry to go on and on about producing dvd's, its just that you guys make such good quality videos that really shows off our industry to its full potential.

Thanks
Chris

Reginald!

I think those new LDs look bloody marvellous! Bloody marvellous I say! Absolutely bloody marvellous!

Well done!

Re: Stein \'small\' Lowering devices

Fantastic device, fantastic video.
You are clear and conscise in your presentation.
I have been wanting another porty but I think I will wait for the 2000!

Was that a red and blue aluminum biner I saw or do they make colored steel biners I dont know about?

Good stuff sir. Thanks!

This looks like a nice piece of gear. If I were in the market and didn't want to fork over the cash for GRCS, this is what I would get. Combined with that sweet pulley, it is a nice set up. Looks superior to the traditional porty, IMHO.

Chris, Stein is the in-house product department of Fletcher Stewart UK. They are working on many products and have lots of others already on the market. I was asked to work on/design the Lowering Devices etc. The pulley/tension-system was insired in conjunction with the 1&2000 models. The crane/sling bag actually came to mind from reading one of the treebuzz threads.

I used to shop in Fletcher Stewart so that’s how I got involved. If not me it would have been someone else.

I am naturally wary about everyone, so at first was reluctant to get involved. But I realise now that they are a Company trying to make the best of whatever opportunities are out there. Believe it or not, there are many in the UK who have a real problem with seeing other’s just trying to do a good job.

If Jerry and Terri make it over here we’ll just be sampling the local beers, cuisine and taking in the sights. In regards to Rigging and filming expertise, I couldn’t offer him anything that he doesn’t already have over and above.

Jesse,
I used the portawrap 3 for a good few years, the last one I had was stolen. To be fair I don’t think you could go far wrong with that product or ours....but in each case they are only as good as the guy using it.

The Coloured Karabiner was used in the video simply because of the colour on the screen. It’s Aluminium, and actually an old climbing karabiner that I didn’t like. I also used it to highlight the fact that it’s simply for positioning the device, so load rating is not an issue. Of course you don’t have to use a connecter at all....just set the eye of the sling as a choker.

Thanks again.
