Stein RC-3001 or something

Does anyone know if this got discontinued? I know the RCW will be coming out, but when I looked for the RC any where it shows as "no longer available" or won't add it to the cart. I really want the GRCS but that is a big pill for a part time user.

You dont have to buy the winch with the RCW. So you're basically getting a 3001 but with the winch option should you decide to purchase at a later date.

That's exactly what I would do.
I have an RC3002 and I can achieve everything with it that I could do with a GRCS.
If I was buying a bollard now, it would be the Stein RCW.

Got to use RCW 3001 (W is for winch) this week to get a live oak off of chain link fence...liked it a lot, awesome tool to have.
tension it up, cut branches to get weight off it, then tension more, rinse and repete

ML, Bixler dropped it off for me to use, he got it on loan for awhile, testing it out....I hope treestuff gets these soon, there really nice! ;)

In hind sight, I can't see how I could manage professional tree care without the GRCS. Money has repaid itself aplenty. Whereas the alternatives just don't keep the up with level of the GRCS. Take the comparative test drive of all options with experienced operators, only then will you see satisfaction versus disappointment. A little money spent, does not compare with quality pro tooling! Wesco, Stihl, amsteel, GRCS!!! Promise you will never look back in regret! Plus the resale value is as high as you ask.

Yeah, it seems early release dates are never reliable. Sometimes up to a year later! No worries though, keep the new gear coming!

When things start rolling in for me this spring. The 1st thing I'm buying is the RCW3001.
The GRCS is out of my league. I can't justify the cost ($3,811.00 CAD) if I were in a different market it would be a must have. But things are basic in the country.

I really like the GRCS but I agree about the cost vs need. I really don't have the need so it's hard to justify spending that much. Even if it is really cool.

Been eyeballing the 3001, actually anticipated buying one as soon as they were released, mainly because I am tired of using a block and tackle....it's....just....so....slow. The winch would speed things up a lot...however, now that it's released and I really start to think about it, a GRCS isn't THAT much more expensive. It wouldn't be like buying another truck or something, and every now and then when bidding a job, I can see the possibility of rigging the whole stinking tree in one go with a GRCS. Once I've seen the possibility, I can't unsee it, and the whole time I am bucking down chunks, I think about how nice it would be to be on the ground with the rest of my guys, cutting and lowering, cutting and lowering. Puts me in a bad mood by the end of the job because I know I'd be at home already if I had the right gear. I may have to buy both, but then I'd have a stink face about having to haul the extra gear. No win situation, man.

If you're thinking about buying both just buy a GRCS. It's vastly superior and that's why it costs more than double the price.

If you have about 1200 bucks though the RCW looks like it would really come in handy and is obviously light years ahead of a regular portawrap.

Ive been working as a contract climber now for over 20 years. I currently drive a ram 2500 gas, 4x4. I frequently need it pull trees, stuck vehicles, chippers and access difficult sites. I also need the full extent of its bed to carry all my gear.

An arborist friend of mine, Ian, works for the municipality as a climber. He has a ford Ranger 4x4. It does everything he needs it to do for his situation. So while upgrading to a 2500 Ram or ford equivalent would give him more capabilities....he would rarely see the benefit to justify the extra cost. A little like driving a ferrari but driving everywhere at 30 mph.

Its neither a conflict of interest or accident that I dont own a GRCS....and yet Im flattening a higher concentration of trees over the last 4 year in Victoria than what Ive ever done in any period of the 25 + that Ive been in the game. Its not that I could never afford one....just that my money is better spent elsewhere. Not everyones circumstances are the same.

Gregs a great guy as is his product. Nothing but respect for him. We could've easily followed in his footsteps as have several other manufacturers by incorporating a Harken winch or similar....but didnt with good reasons. We're confident that 3001 buyers will be plenty satisfied that they got their moneys worth.
