So I tried to run a search for "srt hitch" and the search engine came back with this (and ended up searching for just "hitch" the results of which were not clearly useful to my question.

So here I am starting another thread on this.

What hitches do you use as a backup/safety on a straight SRT line (no wrench, or other weight distribution) that will tend up when pushed from the bottom with a device and lock relatively quickly when loaded?
Is anybody using different hitches on a 9.5 or 10mm (3/8") static line with, say, 8 or 9 mm hitch cord?
Cheers

On a hitch climber system with or without a Rope Wrench, my fav is the Michoacan aka: Martin Hitch. I usually use a 11mm or 7/16" line with a 8mm or 9mm hitch cord. For back-up safety, a Slip aka: Safety Knot is what I was taught when learning to climb DdRT, but it doesn't advance and I think you may be asking about climbing hitches. Try searching for "Hitch Climbing Knots". It reveals a wealth of results.

The cord grabs best if it is smaller than the rope it’s tied to. A more flexible cord and the correct length of the eye legs after tying, with some hitches satisfactory use highly dependent on this, will also help with better biting.
