Splicing Competition?

This isn't going to apply to most, so indulge me here.... but have any of you splicers competed against one another for the strongest splice?

We do this at our shop, and I only ask because Tom beat the other day with one of his splices...

Basically we pick the same rope, and do the same splice then do a break test on it. Whatever splice lasts the longest is the winner.

Really it just makes our testing a little more fun, but it is a question that has been on my mind for a while...or maybe we are just nuts.....

Work competition can be fun!

When I was in college I worked on a landscape crew with twin brothers and two of their older brothers. They were ALWAYS competing...who could push the heaviest load of rock mulch up the steepest hill the fastest. I was a shoveler!

Can you please tell me how the pulling rig is setup?

I'm thinking of using my Range Rover, a dillon, some dyneema and a tree to pull a 10mm ocean polyester to destruction.

What about dropping a pre determined amount of weight, a pre determined distance? something like this? of course it would have to be a weaker rope to break...

I really want a static pull, my dillon goes upto 7000lbs, so I want to document every change in the rope at intervals.
