Looking for the correct knot to attach a single eye sling to the bull tine for making a long limb balanced. I remember it is a number of wraps with the running end thhrough the eye but I cant find it on the web.

Check out the klemheist or the prusik. There are a few other variations, but these two are the most popular. Number of wraps is dependant on the load and the size/type of the lines.

do you wrap counterclockwise and feet the running end through the eye?

Wrap direction doesn't matter. sometimes it matters if you're using 3 strand, but otherwise it don't matter. The number of wraps matters a lot, however.
