Small stumper project

Is anybody sitting on an old ‘self propelled’ (not truck mounted stump grinder that has seen better days, not working parked out back project kind of stumper? Likely foolish but thinking about a project. Not a manual model.

I posted this in general discussion then thought maybe this was the actual thread it should be in.

I've pondered a garden tractor transmission based propulsion for a small grinder but the conundrum is getting posi when you want it, or differential action for transit or skid steer via dual drives (negates the tranny's diff). Some tractors have diff lock but hard to find. But that doesn't get you skid steer. Thusly it died on the vine. 6 speeds would be nice though. My current unit has only posi at snail pace or freewheel. Was going to convert it to dual drive but lost my ambition still facing freewheel/snail pace.
