Site Fill

I’ve been looking at a site that brought in fill after the trees were already planted.

My initial reaction is excavation around the trunks. But I’ve been thinking and removing the fill is a nonstarter and plowing up the yard with airspade, etc not great so what about vertical mulching to increase air and water, etc exchange?

If that was the prescription would it be annual for say 5 years? To climatise The site?

thanks

How recently were the trees planted? Is replanting those trees an option? Or perhaps just removing and planting new trees?

At what point are trees OK being planted too deep? That is when I'd say you can stop biannual vertical mulching.
