Sherrill's NEW Crane Sling Combo

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

I don't like the materials used. I don't like the prices for the materials that are used.

Here is something else you might not know from experience; in that set up, if the main line is rock hard tight, the prussics will not likely hold, they will slide down the main line. I know.

If you pick with only one sling you are putting your eggs all in one basket too, right? Nick has done testing with the prussicks on the line and it is not an issue if used with the limits.

I very rarely use one sling. I prefer to have two or more. I know olddirty will prob scream and yell, but that's the way I learned, and that's the way I operate. I had one sling of two fail once about 9 years ago, I don't care to drop a pick. As Tony said at the symposium, "its 3/4 of an inch of insurance".

The sherrill sling I saw did not have the weight ratings on it, when i asked the salesman had to break out his catolog.

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

The great thing i'm seeing here is everyone is sharing there options(good and bad). We do have one of the rigs on loan from Sherril(which was really cool of them, thanks Tim)and like all training events we'll put the info out it's up to you to decide if it works for you
And Chris without running out to my truck I believe there are tensile strength ratings on the legs. See you out on thursday travel safe.

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

could someone post a pic of this setup for me please, i no longer get sherrill catalogs apparently because i havent ordered from them in years, and i attempted to find a pic online but with no luck.

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

Com ahn guys. Either of you got a crane? How many craners do you do or have you done? $300. for that fluff lol?

What is all this huge concern for capacity on the legs? You haven't or won't have the slightest idea just what pressure or weight is transmitted to them anyway will you?.

Tube Sherrill is laughing with a Marguerita in his hand thanking you for filling up his yacht for the afternoon.

Here's tobe now to say "hey" and thanks.

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

LOL, I hear ya Dave. There's no way that I'd pay that much for that crane-sling combo, but then again, I'm a splicer, so I can pretty much make whatever rigging slings that I need. Still think that it's important to list the capacity for the slings that companies sell though.

On another note, I worked out a great training routine from the info that you gave me. Thanks buddy, I really appreciate it.

Re: Sherrill\'s NEW Crane Sling Combo

Does anybody else see something wrong with that Clevis shackle?

In actual use you would of course want the eye of the sling riding on the pin. Is that what you mean?
