Hmmm, I've seen enough beeches like this in woods environments with the ridges equal on all sides of the trunk, and as I mentioned in one case with the root sprouts exhibiting the same characteristic as the parent tree, thoughts?Piezoelectricity and mechanoperception; see the end of the attached.
Very curly wood in that tree. High value wood for wood workers. I believe grain structure like this is some sort of genetic variation that gets triggered by some local abiotic condition. I don't think it compromises the structure or overall vitality of the tree. Kinda like a hot chick with a lazy eye. Strange to see,but probably not harmful.
