Shackle loading direction?

On my harness (treeup th30) the webbing bridge is connected with shackles on each side. I currently clip in to these shackles with my lanyard, similar to the low D's on a treemotion. My harness doesn’t allow me to install rigging plates there unfortunately.
Is there a problem if I clip into the shackles and does it matter how it's loaded?
2nd picture: load direction when suspended by lanyard or when there is no load on my central attachment.
3rd picture: load direction when lanyarded in infront of me, but there is tension on my main line.20190126_194556.webp20190126_194925.webp20190126_195012.webp

It would be safe, how do the knobs, where the pin goes through, interact with the carabiner? They seem like they might try to catch on the carabiner, and slide through with a small, unexpected jolt.

Pic 2 seems to show the webbing being pinched between the carabiner and the shackle pin.
That seems like a bad idea. i.e. abrasion / abuse of the webbing.

I plan on switching that for a rope bridge as soon as my order with some new stuff arrives. I will be attaching the rope with double fishermans knots.

No, I haven't had any issues there, everything is pretty smooth.

The Camp tree access has similar shackles and web bridge. I was thinking about replacing the shackles with the Petzl open rings to avoid any issues with direction of the load. I'm not going to bother to remove the existing shackles until its time to replace the bridge, so I have plenty of time to research the benefits vs drawbacks of switching.

I was thinking about that also, but I had the price of them higher than they actually are in my memory. A benefit is that you could probably run an adjustable bridge like a sequoia if that adjuster is available separately.

Another possibility is to add the webbing loops that the tree austria has to the shackles, that gives you a soft lower D that should be easier to clip into.

The newest Camp bridge also has small loops so you don’t have to clip to the shackles or rings.

Climbstihl, I have the same harness, which I also bought in Germany. It came with a way too long bridge. I decided to replace it with the adjustable bridge from Petzl. It turned out that I also had to replace both shackles as I could not unscrew those bloody screws. I finally decided to cut the shackles.. They had put so much cement on the threads that I would have had to use a torch to soften the cement or use some chemistry with the risk of damaging the fabric around.
I took the opportunity to also replace the shackles with the open rings from Petzl. It works out fine and the rings being bigger than the shackles, it is not a problem to attach to those.

That looks good on there. I have not had a problem opening it, I did use my feet to get the necessary strengthfor that though. You definitely need some sort of leverage to get through that glue, a steel rod through the shackle probably would've worked to. My bridge is 30cm long, which is tight when putting it on, but fine when using it. I have the smallest size, I don't know how long the other bridges are. At the moment I'm not able to spend an extra 110€ for the adjustable bridge and rings though.

My bridge was 46cm.. Way too long for me, especially since I climb SRT with a Rope Wrench.
If my bridge would have been 30cm, I would not have changed it, nor the shackles...

It was made in 2016 and the size XXL... Actually it is too big for me, XL would have been good enough. I am not that big.. Euh, yes I am :)

Mine is from 9/2017, size S. I think it's only the size that determines the bridge length.
It's good to know that they've been made with the gear loops infront of the D's for a while though. Because all the online pictures show the gear loops behind the D's, I was was very surprised when I opened up my package.

Same here, I have a black diamond alpine harness (no padding at all, just webbing) that I keep in a side pouch on my ropebag. More as a backup or rescue harness though, I rarely use it anymore.

Cool looking saddle but I'm only seeing it for sale in Germany. Any where to buy it from over here? I'd like to try it and need to purchase a new backup before spring arrives.
