Sena SMH10

My battery was waning on my Sena. I had heard they do not have a replaceable battery. I took it apart and found it has a generic battery with an easily searchable number that unplugs and plugs right in to the board. The three screws are T6 or T8. I replaced the 560mAh battery with the 700mAh battery and it lasts much longer. The battery costs about $15 from Amazon.

Any tips on fixing the charger port? I messed around with a sacrificial Sena and my soldering iron is too blunt and too hot. I eventually got the charger port to release but melted parts of the connectors together.
If you’re going to solder something that tiny, you need the right equipment for it; a variable temperature iron with a really fine point for one, and the right solder and solder wick as well. I have a friend who works on boards like that, but I won’t touch them, I don’t have the tools or the fine motor control.

I just popped it out and put it back in after the new battery was connected. I didn't have any issues
What did you pop out and put back in? I have known the charger ports themselves to fail. I was trying to learn to remove and replace the charger port on a sacrificial one that didn't work. I ended up destroying it but I thought that plugging it in and unplugging it repeatedly for charging Bourke the solder joint with the flex and movement over time...just a hypothesis...hard to tell after i destroyed it.

I may not have accurately responded. All I did is remove the battery and replace it. Popped the cover off, broke the old battery free of the glue and plugged the new one in. Sealed the cover and presto, like new. I didn't have any charging issues. My battery wouldn't hold a charge so I got a battery of amazon ad replaced it. Sorry if I didn't explain too well.

I've done this to some very old SMH10 units. It works well. Outside of the battery if any issues arise be sure to update the firmware. If that doesn't work one last thing to try is factory reset and reinstall the firmware.
