During a climb, I usually use limbs to advance myself more than relying on my rope (except for initial entry). For the past month or so, during a pruning (pretty much impossible on a takedown
) I'll try to climb around without touching limbs I'm going to remove. It definitely limits the options for moving within the tree. I don't know why I really thought of doing this, maybe for fun, maybe out of respect for the tree. Sometimes I think it seems rude to stand on a limb to make a cut, then come right down and remove that limb (call me crazy).
If it's going to add any extra time to the job, I'll forget it (don't worry, Brian & Will!), but it makes the job more interesting. Anybody else thought of this? I guess it's the same thing as climbing gyms color coding holds to create different routes.
