Securing paddle biner to harness

Caritools are nice, they're designed to clip to webbing. But, they break.

Paddle biners don't break but they flop to the side making them hard to clip gear onto.

What are climbers doing to solve this problem? I've tried zip ties...they break. Tieing constrictor hitches using throwline. The biner is too slippery and it still rotates.

I've got some incomplete ideas simmering in my head. This must have been solved already though.

Floppy waist D rings suck too.

One of the reasons I like the old Sierra Moreno saddles that braced the waist D rings inside steel sleeves that kept them stable and looking forward to the point you don't need to see them cuz you know exactly where they are.

The old ones, the wise ones, the alive ones.

Tom,

I had this same question back in July. I think the absolute best solution would be an aluminum caritool. I can't think of another manufacturer who has a biner with the simple feature of a flat back to prevent rotation. I still use a small caritool for hanging top handles, and switch to a Kong paddle for the 460 or old 066.

Sorry, I know this doesn't solve the problem, but there were some good ideas on the old thread. I hope I'm understanding your question. Old thread

Does anyone have a source in the US?

Shelter Tree Care Products in North Attleboro carries them. Can't find them on the website, but they have them in the store. I think Mayer Power Products has them, too.

This is the tool that I've used for years:

Lobster bander

Short pieces of old Big Shot tubing work great. For under $10 its a great value. Since it only opens in one direction getting the bands on is a struggle sometimes. The castration banders tend to open the bands in two directions.

Maybe not super helpful, but I've always loved my Ultra Light until I found the Nikosi by New Tribe, which has snaps built-in for the big ring on your chainsaw lanyard. No caritool needed!

I love them, except once in a while something else gets into them, be it a twig, another biner, whatever, but not nearly as often as stuff accidentally getting lodged in the caritools.

Bonus is there's another snap on the left for your Sigg. Sweet!

Found this, but still not a U.S. supplier. Husky must make these available stateside, no?

Says it fits any harness with a removable belt, but I bet I could make it fit the caritool slot in my harness.

Closer to the Holy Grail... Husky chainsaw hook

Buck!

Many years ago I bought one of those from de Gouret Litchfield from Sweden. It's been migrated from 3-4 harnesses. I didn't know they were still produced.

Thanks for doing the research while I'm lazying around watching a movie :)
