Sawdust!

Treezybreez

Been here much more than a while
Location
Lancaster, SC
Today I was dismantling a large Oak tree at the house of a 89 year old lady. During one of the lower branch cuts my saw flared just right sending sawdust under my face shield and glasses.

I was close to the ground so I got down quickly and asked the lady if I could wash my eyes out in her sink. She politely agreed so I attempt to flush the chips out. My eyes were still bothering me and the lady must have noticed because she offered me some eye spray. (never heard of eye spray before)I took the spray and sprayed it in my left eye. Burning pain! That is when I noticed the label on the bottle said "eye glass cleaner" and below it, "DO NOT SPRAY IN EYES".

Just a humerus warning to watch out for those chips and be weary of elderly medical aid.

I have had many (very nice) offers from older customers that are just a little bit off. Usually for me its odd snacks and drinks and stuff. The list includes stringy apple juice that apparently had gone bad, stale cookies etc.

One lady even baked a cake for us to have for dessert at lunch!

It's always good to consider the source though...

I had a great laugh over that one! Glad your eyes are still with us.

Sorry, but LOL. Maybe that old lady was playing a mean trick on you. Or maybe she's just part of a tougher generation, and that is the same stuff she uses to clean her eyeballs...

"Smarts a little, ya pansy!" she quietly smirked to herself as the tree climber doubled over in pain.

Well Roy, she did say something like if it can clean glasses why not eyes.

My left eye was blurry for two days after spraying it with the eye glass cleaner.

Once got a corneal abrasion due to some saw dust that kicked up when closing the truck door at the end of the day. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone, it totally consumes your existence. I knew it was bad when waiting to pick up my prescription eye drops, The kid sitting next to me with a badly broken jaw says, "Man, glad I'm not you right now."

I've had that and agree. I cut in your cornea does send the whole body out of whack for the duration. Sleep wasn't too easy either. Broken jaw, I don't know about that.

Yea I'll take the cut on the cornea over a broken jaw as well, much quicker recovery. He apparently tried to talk to me a couple of times and I didn't respond because I couldn't think about anything else. The lesson I learned from this situation is that you should not be stubborn and wait 5 hours to get treatment.

If I remember correctly I was working at my doctors office when it happened. Eye drops were the cure.

Pretty funny story....at your expence of course.
That is tough when the saw dust gets through the PPE. It happened to me too many times. It helped when I went to a clear shield on my Kask and bug eyes under them. Took a bit to get used to though.
A little off track, but here is my elderly story.
A elderly lady called me concerned why the ficus her son gave her hadn't grown in a year and had white spots on it. I went over to realize and explain that no matter how often you water it, a SILK plant won't grow. As for the white spots, I suggested when she had someone paint, they should use a drop cloth.
I got a hug and a cookie out of my deal.
