Saved by the lanyard

Standing on a limb trying to throw the my climbing line higher. Limb broke from underneath me, and I dropped into the lanyard HARD. I don’t know how it happened but the waist buckle on my saddle also popped open.

The waist belt was up past my nipples and my groin took most the force

Nope, but I have a great story of how it racked me- took a swing back to the trunk, but the lanyard was between my feet, hooked on a nub...it hurt. Derailed in two replies, a new record for me. Please resume the original topic.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find all this talk of nipples and groins slightly arrousing?

I've had similar instances with lanyards over the years, gaffing out and sliding down. But I've always recovered before impact... The easiest solution was to use an extra prussik and carabiner on your lanyard as a cinch around the stem...

early on, I repelled out of maybe a 40ft er uncliped my lanyard for a faster trip down with my new petzl ID got moving to quick and bang from about 12-15 feet up I free fell to the ground that hurt like hell. I landed on a rock it was flat but not forgiving... Lesson learned my lanyard would have slow me down and been a back up preventing what happen... now years later I'm much more comfortable in how it operates...

Finally like the recent thread in awakenings stay out of the Circle of Death... when necessary.
