What methods or solvents do you guys use to clean your ropes of sap. my zig zag And runner at covered also what to do. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Canola oil. You don't want to use harsh cleaners on rope and other textiles. I take my rope and rub canola oil into the sappy portions, work it in with hot water...after that I milk the entire rope with my hand while rinsing it in water. I use an old toothbrush on mechanicals.

I use WD-40 on both, then wash the ropes when I get home, using a laundry soap (not detergent) that is coconut oil based. Modern, low-suds machine with no agitator down the middle of the tub. Can fit two ropes in there, easily.

I haven't tried it on rope, but I've had good success getting pitch off of other items, including myself with isopropyl alcohol. Quick and very effective. I've seen citings of research stating that it's not reactive with nylon and polyester, but I'd definitely call the manufacturer of the particular rope/device for advice before I'd use it on something rated for life support or heavier loads.

95% isopropanol - I use medical grade for sap removal so there are no other contaminating components (also use this to sterilize and cool pruners/ saws, etc. after flaming).
95% isopropanol can be used on ropes, rope runner, etc. Just be sure to keep changing to clean rags as there will be goo left on the rag as the isopropanol evaporates from it. Watch the fire hazard too - both the vapour and your used rag pile (leave these in open air in the sun to dry so there's no spontaneous combustion in your waste bin!). I then use Teufelberger Scrubba to finish clean ropes in the front load washer in a rope bag. Like new!
You can use acetone for conifer sap too, on metal parts only, but not if they have retainer nuts with nylon parts, etc.
FYI isopropnol also works well on auto paint to remove sap off your '55 Chevy Nomad - NOT acetone!
