Saddle setup (picture thread)

@chiselbit it's just a strap that runs through both leg loops and has an adjuster on each side. The arrow points to the strap. The right side adjuster is circled, other side is obscured.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that was it. And does it provide good support when you’re just hanging? I’ve thought about getting a designated bosun type saddle just for cabling but can’t really justify it.

I've been thinking of buying the MB 2.0, I use the 1.0 for 90% of my work and have been very happy with it so it's nice to see that the new version is potentially better.

Meant to take pictures of my saddles for this thread while I was out at the shop tonight, but decided to come back to the warm house instead.....

I'm kicking around the idea of buying a new saddle as well, mine's getting close to the expiration date (not sure if it really matters) but is in great shape. I was kicking around the idea of mb 2.0 or the treemotion pro. I do like my treemotion 2018 so not sure how I'd like the mb as it's much bulkier looking. Wish it was possible to try them on.

I spoke with August before I bought my 1.0. As long as the saddle shows no signs of being worn (basically you can hang in the basement but don't do a work climb) he'll accept the return if you don't like it.

That's been a couple of tears ago, so it'd be worth confirming that with him before you buy.

Definitely not minimalist. :)

Not posting my 2018 TreeMotion harness setup, I'd have to spend hours typing responses to angry "KISS" comments ;-) Minimalism and tree work don't go well together. I use everything on my harness constantly and I'm not reshuffling the deck before every climb to shave some insignificant amount of weight per climb. Once your top handle i shung on your harness everything else is a featherweight. I don't like running out of carabiners when I'm setting redirects. I don't like running out of sling runners whatever it is I'm doing. I want that extra e2e always onboard. Hook and 45' hookline ride with me quite a bit, nicely stuffed in a small accessory bag, that is one piece of gear that can be be easily added on to my harness or not depending what I think I'll want to have aloft.

Speaking of harnesses, this looks a strong contender to be my next one, basically a rebranding/update of the "TM Special Light":
TreeMotion Essential

-AJ

Here is my spur/removal saddle, Monkey Beaver 1.0, which is what gets most of my usage. Thinking about trying out the 2.0.... I've also got a TreeMotion S.light with its own set of equipment on it for pruning jobs where I like something lighter and more sporty.

-Silky handsaw with a leather Weaver scabbard since I don't like the one it comes with.
-Non locking biner for sending certain gear up and down.
-Sling for certain rigging situations, mostly hanging a big fir limb on itself when working solo.
-Small bits: pulley, retrieval ball, quickie.
-Sling dedicated for life support as needed, mostly a redirect.
-Steel biner for making throwing a DRT line on a limb above me easier.
-Pouch with a bar wrench, mini-wedge and where I keep my phone/camera.
-Knife for cutting ropes, mostly an emergency thing. Only used like 3 times, and just for cutting old ropes found in trees.
-Small water bottle, which I use daily.
-TransPorter for hanging my chainsaw.

A few of the items seldom get used, but nothing is heavy and I'd rather grab and go rather than spend time adding or removing just a few ounces of gear before and after every climb...

You did transfer the bottle of Crown into a plastic container, yes?
I was worried about dropping it so I polished it off before I went up, jk we have a strict no drinking policy, my buddy happened to have the bag on hand when I needed something to hold wedges etc and it's stuck around for over a year now.
Got a good sized brisket on the smoker today, my family will eat some and some will be for lunches for me and the guys next week. I'm in a high fire danger area so I don't feel comfortable firing up a wood smoker during the summer so winter time is bbq season for me.

First day on my tm pro took some dying tops off of a couple oaks up pretty high, pads are definitely a step up from my 2018, but I do wish it came with the ring and elastic loops pre set ansi didn't come with the spare bridge which is a bummer.
I also used a hitch for the first five in a very long time, kinda made this one up standing at the back of my truck this morning, I was just planning on using it for my captain hook but it ended up working so well I used the lanyard as my climb line for doing a couple removals I was cutting 20 ft as too.

I think a big difference we will see in the set up and in regards to what people carry is the amount of ground support the climber has. Some crews like where I work are 2-3 guys at most and sometimes solo.
I know if I got competent ground support available I will have things sent up as needed but if I'm solo or my boss is busy running a machine I may plan out and carry more to keep him free to stay busy on what he's gotta do.
Sometimes I'll leave things tied on my tail or just Hung up in the tree.

Did u say it did not come with the 2nd bridge?
The lower ds do have the 2nd hole for another bridge though right?
