Rubber on TreeMotion?

Anyone know what the rubber on the T.M. is called? Anyone know where to buy some?

I couldn't tell you Jamin but it seems like a mixture of fibres and rubber, maybe neoprene. PM Mark Bridge. He may be able to help. Are you making a repair or maybe beefing up a component? I know! You're making a TM CUP!

I'm thinking one could very easily make his/her very own T.M. harness for less than $100 dollars.

I'm not suggesting stealing a design and selling it. I'm simply thinking we could make our own. The original could serve as a template, or the inspiration to modify our own custom harness. Especially since we all have different body types.

No doubt there was some time, trial & error, research... into the TM. And it is the best (or nearly the best) fitting harness of all time. It doesn't really feel like you have a harness on. It feels natural.

One may argue; "But, if you make your own, it won't be rated." Ha! The T.M. isn't rated.

It is bothersome that when the webbing on the leg strap starts to fray, that you are forced to pay $183 for one replacement strap. That would be $366 to replace both! The 1" webbing would cost less than $2.00 dollars.

I understand one has to make a profit, but the point is... the parts used ared cheap. And we aren't stupid. We could make our own easily.

In fact, I believe we could used slightly thicker rubber and webbing to make one over rated.

Anyone agree?

Am I crazy?

The price is crazy...366.00? I would just buy a new saddle.

That being said, even if I spent the $$ buying a new one every year, it is still the king of saddles and would not owe me a penny, actually, I would owe it lots 'o pennies ;)

Yep. And I think that's what they want. (Whoever they is).

But, since I'm a business owner, with multiple T.M. harnesses, I couldn't rationalize a new harness when the leg strap gets frayed.

What about just getting new webbing for the leg strap? I looked at mine and it is only stitched in one spot, any industrial sewer could do that stitch,

all you would have to do is take off the buckles, measure, cut and stitch, then use the buckles again :)

The manufacturers of the harness have finally allowed me to disclose for the first time in public here on Tree Buzz what the base material of the treeMOTION is made of:

It is in fact made of the hide of the exceedingly rare and rather vicious hippogriff. Today these can only be found in a remote part of eastern Rumania in the foothills of the Carpathians, where for many centuries the Comaneci-Georghiou family have bred them for their hides, as well as for substances made from their apocrine sweat glands used in the preparation of traditional Ayurvedic medicines. In the middle ages hippogriff hides were used when manufacturing suits of armor for the under armor garment, being amazingly tough in relation to their weight, on a par with modern high-tech fibres such as Kevlar etc.

For many years this traditional material was forgotten, but has in recent years experienced a resurgence in a range of uses, for example for the airbags in the Rumanian-built Renault-owned Dacia cars, bullet proof vests for the Rumanian SWAT teams etc.
For us this material seemed an obvious choice, but be warned, it is fiendishly hard to get hold of.

There, now you know, but keep it to yourselves!

Regards,

Mark
