Ropetek Wraptor

I as slumming over at another tree site and noticed a thread that I thought might be worth looking at. There was a Ropetek Wraptor on e-bay. I called Paul Cox to confirm it was in fact one from him. It was! I ended up owning it.

Over the years I have expanded my tree-care equipment to the point where I have MORE equipment than I do manpower to get it to the site. I have been keeping my eyes, and ears open about the Wraptor for quite a while. I do own a Bucket, and thought I could do without a Wraptor. Ummmm, I now believe the Wraptor will save me it's cost, in fuel savings, by leaving the Bucket parked in my yard.

The TOOL allows me to ascend with most everything I will need in the tree. It is well designed and built. More importantly, it saves me time and energy for working the tree.

As I am 51, and a bit beat up from the rigors of life, the Wraptor will allow me to re-coup it's cost quickly (my bucket gets 5MPG)and work the trees I am hired to work on. IMO tree work isn't about the climb, I get paid for what I do to the tree!

One last thought, a lot of talk is going around about the exhaust and noise of the Wraptor. There appears to be 2 options for where the exhaust points. Paul has put it in a great place for the machine and user. The noise issue isn't really an issue either, IF you plan on using a chainsaw on the tree your in, you already have the PPE with you!

Ummmm Jesse, I can see the value of this tool on Palm trees, especially if you only get 25 bucks/palm! Beats gaffs and you would have energy left after a whole days work to chase the ladies!

You've used one haven't you?

I worked a branch manager deal with Paul.
Being 55 and rusty, I is a happy camper.

+ MN TCC can use it also!

Good find treedimensional

Congrats, Brent. The Wraptor will be just the ticket for all those 200 footers you have up there...

I'll be getting a Wraptor, evntually....but need to recover from bills like the latest..... my chipper disc broke while we were heating it to get the bad shaft out...That was 8 days ago. Bandit built us a new disc, and it arrived today! Putting it in tomorrow....$4400 plus $800 shipping ouch!....bearings $600, new Powerband belt $240, about $6-800 labor....and we'll be back to work.....

and, gotta send the $560 shaft back to Bandit for a credit....naturally I'll eat the $80 rush shipping, and whatever it costs to ship it back.

Ouch, thats a pricey repair bill! What caused the shaft to need to be replaced? Better to have it break than sitting still, rather than when it was running!!!!

The largest tree we have around here is in the 130-140 ft mark! Still nice to have some energy left at the end of the day!!!!

I got mine last week, it is like taking an elevator up the tree. I've been using it on most open canopy trees, even 30 foot climbs; WTF I have it I might as well use it. If I do 4-5 small trees it goes so much faster if I do not have to exert myself getting up there.

The other day i had a few hickories and Norway maples where there were there were only one or two cuts per tree. Not very tall, but still taller then any ladder (I hate ladders) I breezed through it all with no effort at all. One of them I used The Toy (Wraptor) as my working TIP, rapped down and lowered the the rope/Toy out by myself.

Great statement, Who never wanted to use an Elevator?
I was skeptical of its Value when I first learned of the Wraptor. Cutting my teeth on 50' average trees in MN, I can now think of a gazillion MN trees I wish I had had it on.
The more arborists get out and use/try this thing its usefulness/practicality becomes more & more apparent.
Sometime in the future Footlocking may well become the sport of Rec Climbers.

It did feel like cheating when climbing . . . ahh I mean riding up into this redwood though, oh yeah that was sport climbing oops riding

Just an old climbers opinion
