I just got off the phone with Paul at Ropetek. Paul is not going to allow me to purchase Ropetek products any longer because of our relationship with Sherrill.

This bums me out, but it is his prerogative. I've always gotten along great with Paul and Sam (and Robbie, who rocks) and I wish them nothing but the best. I hope Paul changes his mind once things chill out. We want to be selling these awesome products.

If you have any questions about this or anything else, just hit me up!

Luke, thanks for the update(s).

My limited exposure also indicated that Paul was a great guy.
At Jambo 1, he won the throwline event; and then immediately donated his cash winnings to charity !

Just sounds like a "principles" thing.

This is sure to ignite the firestorm again. I hope Paul will come back around as his products and ideas rock and his inovation has moved the industry forward immeasurably.

It saddens me immensely to part ways with Luke who has always been so supportive of innovation and so easy to do business with.

Sherrill on the other hand are a scourge on the industry and have stolen something special from all of us by purchasing TS. One day if I have the energy I will document all the crap they have pulled on me personally in their unending quest to make their shareholders more money.......

Corporate America at its worst, have competition just buy them out instead of cleaning up your own act

I can personally attest to the man Paul is. He offered me experience and brought me into his home with his family. Went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. I had gone to work with him not expecting anything but crane experience and he even compensated my time. He's a good man. I'm sorry it has come to this and hope it doesn't impact his livelihood. Ropetek does have a website if anybody is looking for his products.

Our door at TreeStuff will remain open if you decide to come back Paul.

I think it is shortsighted to drop us without true consideration. I understand that you had a bad experience with SherrillTree in the past, but that was different management, and it certainly wasn't me and Luke.

I fail to see the sense in walking away from a perfectly healthy and happy business relationship because of what you think might happen. Neither Luke nor I have ever given you a reason to distrust us, or done anything but go out of our way to promote the Ropetek brand. In my eyes you created a self fulfilling prophecy and then hammered it home.

We have been friends for a while now, before I was in this business. I hope that means something and that you find it in yourself to trust me when I tell you that this is a good thing you are walking away from. Regardless of what happened in the past you walked on Luke and me, not the other way around.

I'd really like to hear about this just for my own personal curiosity.

On another note, thanks for all your contributions to this industry and I hope your products continue to be as easy to obtain as they have been in the past. They have really changed the way I work!

Such a shame they SOLD OUT. I go back before even Bonner was there and they were so personal. I actually go back to when Sherrill was just a little company and were personal. Too bad.

I remember ordering and talking directly to Luke-sure was nice to have such personal care. Haven't dealt enough with S.T. to make an assessment. Nick has answered numerous questions and hope he has an influence on how this merger goes.

I go back with Sherrill longer than anyone here save for Dave, I'm sure. Back when they did far more than any other supplier at the time in end user education, via tips for new or improved tree climbing techniques, much of it made possible by innovative new products which Sherril would promote, whether their own or someone else's. Yes, they grew and grew too fast, and the period when Toby had sold out was the defining moment of change when they lost the personal connectivity which was then taken over by a fast growing TreeStuff`. I'm optimistic that Sherril is on the road to recovery and that they will let TS be, for the most part. Wishful thinking? I reckon time will tell, eh?
