Rope Wrench climb.

Hi everyone,

I had a very simple birch removal this weekend and used the Rope Wrench, I stripped the crown out with my handsaw as it was, well easy and no need for noise off the chainsaw wreaking the moment.

I filmed it on this tree as i wanted an honest climbing perspective for people to see. I will eventually make one with some rigging etc, etc,

anyway, enough of my waffle. Heres the link and thanks for taking the time to have a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nKZzbBnpR8

Great job, got to love when you can let everything fly! When I do removals that I need to go up and down on I'll attach a pulley near my TIP and feed my tail through. Gives you a 3-1 slack tender on the way back up, just something to think about.

Is that a lock jack? Will it engage if the rope wrench is not engaged?

Thats what it looks like. If it is the lock jack it would not work if the rw fails if Im correct.

Hi, Yep Lockjack, the way it is tethered to the RW will allow engagement even if the RW slips, trial and error found this out. Using a crab and tether can result in failure to bite, no fails from this close setup and i have been giving it the chance to fail when i was testing the combo. Haven't got round to setting the Spiderjack on the line yet tho.

Sorry forgot to mention that the system is really compact that for the RW to be fully open takes a lot of effort compared to when i had a long tether and crab. The distance of movement between the two setups is vast one bing 12cm of totally slack distance between the two bits of kit and with a crab it was 23cm.

Dying to know if and how it works with a Spiderjack II.
Could you post a picture of how it is set up, it was hard to see in detail in the vid.

wow that shot great video, I have been holding out for a POV HD.
Planning on trying the SpiderJack2 with SRT tomorrow, unless I finish a welding job I am doing today early enough

Gave the SpiderJack 2 a quick test with the RW on SRT but the brake restricts you from ascending when using a Pantin on the line. I will have to look into this in more detail. I just had to get some climb time in.
