Yes I threw the dice and bought the infamous bag o' rope. out of 4 types I have identified 2 and I could use some help. The white rope with black spots is next to a pc of Sterling Scion 11.5, the white rope about the same diameter as a pc of Notch 1/2" Kraken that I got but not near as stiff and the center feels loose.

I have no clue what the flat rope is. It measures about 1.25 (barely) in it's flat state, is hollow and appears to have 48 separate strands but they are plaited in pairs. Any idea on what it is and what I can use it for.

Thanks for looking

The gray looks like Notch gargoyle, with an aramid core. The flat cordage is notch dryad, the Sherrill version of branchsaver synthetic cabling.

The gargoyle is nonspliceable (as far as I understand), static, and has a higher tensile strength than other ropes of similar size because of the core, This core also means the rope is not tolerant of dynamic loading.

Dryad is a polyester hollow braid. It’s good for many applications. I’ve pulled a chip truck up a muddy hillside with it. I’ve used it as a sling. It’s great as a support cable, too ;)

Hey Pard. Thanks for identifying the Dryad. Can you tell me how to identify the size? I see it comes in .375, .500 and .750, is that the inside dia or outside when it is in the round? The other rope seems to be a little different in pattern than the gargoyle I found, this is white and has no arrow pattern just two alternating sets of bars. Thanks for your help

Oh, gotcha. Sorry for the mistake. The dryad’s measurement (my best guess from using all three) is when it’s round. If it’s measuring over an inch when flat, it’s probably the 3/4”.

No Sorry needed my pics may not be the best. So if it's 3/4" can ya give me some ideas of projects it could be used for IE: slings whoopies ETC. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve made speedline slings and dead eye slings. Nervous to do other styles just because it’s venturing beyond intended use.

It's a polyester hollow braid. How much intent do you think the manufacturer can weave in there?
If I knew I would not be asking these questions. I am willing to listen to any helpful advice or sarcastic replies. I received a big wad of the stuff and just looking for some way to make use of it. I have a lot to learn about the tree business but I'm not afraid to ask. Thanks

The little voice in the back of my mind wonders about flat vs round when loaded.

That little voice wonders about a lot of things, and is probably louder than other people’s. I tend not to be too adventurous with gear ( in my own estimation).

20230328_195554.jpgthat is sterling packaging, inside the manual it only says it's scion but I cannot even find any pictures anywhere on the internet of anybody making a rope with this color scheme

@Mowerr , it was great meeting you! I love meeting other buzzers face to face. It feels like instant connection. Are we a secret society?

If you got it at Vermeer, it’s the new scion colorway exclusive to them. They also have the Brahma line of kraken rigging lines, and elite Ivy, a Vermeer colored Samson Ivy. Being the biggest dealer network for SHERRILLtree has some perks, I suppose.
