RIP Bryan Chandler

Treezybreez

Been here much more than a while
Location
Lancaster, SC
There was never a dull moment working for Bryan. He was passionate about proper pruning and climber safety. Though he rubbed most people the wrong way and burned almost every bridge, he did cultivate a passion for arboriculture that I still have today. Plus I wouldn’t have all the stories, if Bryan hadn’t been my boss.

You could tell a lot by how he smoked his cigars. A slow easy puff, puff, meant he was making money, but a quick hard smoke and fire puff, meant he didn’t quote enough! One time, I told something to that effect to a new recruit. We were within ear shot of Bryan of course. He made a hah sound and briskly indicated to get back to work. The next time he lit one up on a job, I casually glanced his direction as if I were a pilot checking a wind sock. Bryan pretended not to notice, but I could tell he was struggling to puff with ease. Finally, he threw down his cigar and exclaimed that I had, “Ruined his enjoyment of smoking!”
