retrievable pinto loopie

Here is something I have been playing with. I think it has some real possibilities. I would like to put it out there and see what you all think. This is a prototype. Thanks

I replaced the cord on the retrieval cone with throw line, attached to rope with prussic and covered with tape. I do all the rigging with the cone on the work line. No trying to find the right end.

Good idea for a remote retrievable rigging point. Wouldn't want to bomb a pinto down over anything hard though. Also wouldn't want to carry 3 or 4 for srt redirects either. The only issue I see following it with a throwline is a wonky path leading to excess friction. I'm sure someone smarter than I will have more to say.

I'd prefer a whoopie xrr/pinto combo (to set remotely) but it would be retrievable the same way.

It seems like Tenex would become less and less slippery and more an more "velcro-y", especially on White Oak for instance. Maybe using the cover of a double braid would be a better choice?

Otherwise, great idea! I will probably mess around with this concept.

I made my retrieval sling with 1/2" OD poly water line, pull cord tied with a sliding double fishermen's knot and a wichard twisted shackle. I used a heat gun to straighten the water line. I'm not sure what size the shackle is but it catches the retrieval cone, and the rope runs great through it. I want to try the other wichard shackle that is used on pulley guides.

Do you ever have the bight come loose when flipping the line around when it's through the shackle?
What's on the end of your line that you added, a cone?

I'm saying where the retrievable shackle is tied off does it ever come loose when the sling isn't loaded, or does it stay in place after a coulpe hours of work?

Sorry I didn't say this before but cool idea I may borrow it.

Can I ask why you made this up instead of a round turned whoopie, ring-ring basket, etc? Alway find the thought behind the ideas interesting

I haven't had any problems. It rides nice on the line. Make one and try it out. I would like to see what you think. I have ideas of using shrink tube and stitching to make a nice one after any bugs are worked out.

I think a long ring-to-ring with at least 3 wraps and the rings pretty close will always stay put. If its long enough a couple of twists "behind" the ring side would help to hold it in place during zero load.... (cooper/super cooper style)

I have been using this for a while now. retreves very reliably on vertical stems. I placed my retriever ring on the adjustment tail of the loopie to keep it streamlined.
