What about for side fair leads using a piece of rubber strap/webbing or replaceable rope with a roller biner in the end they would do the same thing as the pigtails on the GRCS and would be harder to break and easy to replace. Also would flop out of the way when installing. I can't draw but will attempt something this eve to illustrate my idea.

I like the cut of your jib!

I did think of that but my concern would be the biner clunking against the winch and scratching it up

For whatever it might be worth, I have built one of these (using a sailboat foresail sheet winch, etc.). The winch is mounted on a plate that has steel pins to hold it into a frame (the frame is steel but has wood pads on the back to try to be nice as possible to the tree bark). As part of the plate there are two large cleats (one on each side) that are made from straight stock and pipe, so that the line can be run off the winch and just round and figure eight-ed on the cleat. Two heavy-duty 3 inch truck straps w/ ratchets are used to hold the plate to the tree. Believe it or not, the ability to wrap the winch, put in a handle and pull line, then cleat it off has proved useful.
