Re-soling boots??

Unfortunate update to follow:

About 3 weeks after receiving my boots back from NuShoe the soles began splitting. I only wear my Evos when pruning so it hadn't been but maybe 10-12 times? Called the company and explain the problem. They paid for me to ship them back to get redone. I was told the soles were simply not secured properly. So another couple weeks I get them back, excited to finally get after it for good. But nope. The soles began peeling again after another 10 or so trips in the tree. I called the company and complain and they are refunding me full price.

I'm really saddened because I thought NuShoe was the real deal. But I also have a pair of pruning boots that need fixing! Can anyone help me out? Perhaps the way the Evos are constructed requires a special glue to hold the soles on? I could use any insight.

BLUF: stay way from NuShoe.

Great!!! I have a pair of Salewa's there now based on the recommendations of this thread. I wonder if they will be ok to just wear normally instead of climbing. Climbing pounds a boot for sure.

Obviously re-soling depends on the construction.

If the soles are glued on, my experience has been the cobbler won't touch them, or the job doesn't last.

There was a thread here on TreeBuzz several years ago about Peter Limmer, in Intervale, NH.
His shop makes custom-made hiking boots, but also imports very good quality ready-made boots from Germany, Austria, etc.
(Custom boots require "fittings" and 6 to 9 months.)

In 2012, I was at the shop & bought a pair of really nice heavy duty hiking boots.
They spent nearly 3 hours with me, to make sure the fit was just right.
The boots were ready-made, but they also made some modifications to improve the fit. Extremely helpful, competent and skilled.

The shop had lots of boots that people shipped in, from around the country, to be repaired, or resoled.

Just a reminder.

I had called and spoke with a rep and specifically asked about my brand of boot. Response was that they could do the work. Fortunately I have also purchased a new pair that arrived today.

My boots lasted over 6 months of heavy use. Soles never peeled just got worn down. Something just wasn't right about the way they fixed them.

Just got my salewa's back from nushoe today. Seven weeks turn around. Seem to be OK. Since I got my new rapace salewa's I will only use the repaired ones for normal wear, not climbing. Will keep info posted.
