R.I.P. Tim Ard

For those of you who knew him, took his classes, or just chatted with him I need not explain. For those unfamiliar with Tim, the man, the trainer, and the teacher, if you fell trees with open-face notches, plunge, and bore back cuts to set a hinge, (to name just a few things in the world of chainsaw) then you are part of Tim's legacy.

I was never fortunate enough to have met Tim in person, though I followed his G.O.L techniques for many years. He had an online site for his Forestry Applications Training contained (and still does) tons of useful information. His Tim's Tips section should be read by every tree worker and logger alike.

Chris, I had overlooked this article. Thaks for posting. Tim's Tips have been taught in our tailgate saftey meetings and I agree should be on everyone's reading & training list. You would have enjoyed Tim. I was fortunate to have taken an early Arbor Masters training when Tim helped with the chainsaw safety and prcision tree felling modules. In the decades since he always replied to my phone & email questions. Sadly I never signed up for his more recent storm debris training workshops in Rome GA.
