Questions about brand new T540 XP

Location
Cary
Just brought it from a dealer (btw, very nice people at HolderandSons, Durham, NC).
Have some questions:
1. The eyelet was not attached. (Pic). I did attach it, however is there any reason people don’t attach the eyelet?
2. The spiked bumper/dog (see picture) was not attached either. I’m going to attach it, but is there any reason not to attach it?
3. Should the spiked bumper/dog be attached just under the bolts or under metal elements the bolts already keep in place? (Picture)
4. I am not going to mess with the original size (L) of the handle, but my gloves are usually XL. Should I attach the XL handle?
Thanks

I attached the spikes/dogs under existing metal elements- it looks ok to me. If this is not right let me know. Still, I’m curious why some would not attach them at all.

Also, since I have the eyelet built in on the back I attached my lanyard directly to the handle in case I want to have the saw closer. I see most attach it to the end though. What do you think about attaching chainsaw lanyard to the chainsaw handle?

I have some guesses for you - yes, you’ve assembled everything correctly, the spikes probably do go under the little metal tabs.

The spikes and lanyard loop are likely left off for shipping, to allow the saw to fit in a smaller box and therefore cost less to ship.

No reason you can’t attach your lanyard to the handle, but it will probably be a bit awkward to use the saw that way, which is why most attach the saw by its attachment loop. Also, using the loop on the back keeps the bar pointed down and away from your legs.

I always attach my lanyard to the top handle like you have (exactly like you have, starting feeding it through from the pull cord side). I like how it hangs closer to me better than when attached at the rear and it's not in my way at all.

Thanks. Btw, how do you attach the other end of the lanyard? To the middle of the back of the harness or to the side?

personally id go with the side, for the oddball occasion you would let the saw dangle from the lanyard instead of racking it on your harness, it will be easier to pull it back up, and the loop the lanyard makes on your harness will be smaller, and more closed, = less snags

but, its your gear, climb with it for a few hours, swap it around, and repeat till you find something that works

Thanks. Yes, this is what I planned to do. Not sure why people attach it to the back.
