Promark Stump Grinder?

Hey all,

In the market for a little stump grinder.... I do mostly residential work so backyard access through small gates is a big factor. I only have the budget right now to buy used, very used so my options are limited. I have a found a lot of really beat up Vermeer's but then came across a Promark in excellent condition, with trailer etc. Its self propelled and seems to be a pretty good deal. Anyone have experience with these machines or any thoughts? Thanks.

I have run Promarks and currently own a Rayco mini workforce which is basically the same machine. Promark went out of business and Rayco picked up the design with a few of its own changes. They are a good machine for small stumps. For jobs like taking out old foundation landscaping and grinding the stumps nothing is faster. You can do big stumps with fresh teeth but its a lot of work. We use a big tow behind Rayco for big stumps. If you can get it for a decent price you should buy it, it will make you money. Be aware if the hydrostat goes it will cost you $500+ and they do go bad. I've replaced a couple of them on mine.

Good friend of mine took out 4 front teeth and nearly busted his jaw with the old rear wheeled Promark.

Yes, That grinder is what put Promark out of business. I use the front cutter wheel Promark. They discontinued the rear cutter wheel grinder and replaced it with the front cutter wheel grinder which was a good machine. Unfortunately the lawsuits from the rear cutter wheel model forced them into bankruptcy.
