Probably never happen again

I went out to take down a 50-55 foot cherry tree today and the customer said he would feel better if the power lines were dropped before the top was cut. Power company showed up to cut the lines (on time even), but rather than dropping the lines they said "we got a bucket truck right here, how about we just cut it down below the lines?". So they cut the top 25 feet or so that were above the lines and then all I was left with was 2 or 3 branches and the trunk. The kicker is that even with the elec co doing half the work the customer still gave a $50 bonus for cutting a couple branches that werent originaly discussed.

Anyone else ever have a similar unexpected suprise?

Sweet...did the extra help on site save you any time on the total job?(Est man hrs vs having to do the whole job yourself) And allow you to get another job in for the day?
Do you have a bucket or were you going to climb?

The tree was about 15 feet or maybe a little more from a 7200v line. The time savings were not huge up front but it left me with alot more energy for clean-up. Which sure came in handy on a sunny 96 degree day. My original plan was to set a rope in each of the two leads that might have wanted to head towards the lines, then get in the tree and take them out.

It wasnt a life changing lottery winning, but after having a run of bad luck where things just dont go the way you expected them to, it sure was nice.
