Involved with MN TCC for years, subject of prizes for competitors came up, Years back we used to give out gear, trophys and cash to top climbers and a trip to the ITCC for the Champ. Then a couple of years ago alot of testosterone tainted our competition. We thought eliminate goodies short of some runner-up trophys & the trip for the champ in an effort to make it more friendly competition.

Question what do you other Chapters dude's do?

In the Rocky Mountain chapter there were prizes for all event winners in the prelims. I can't remember now if the others got prizes or not. For the MC, the winner got the trip to Nashville the others got prizes too.

In the New England & New York Chapters prizes are given to the winners of each preliminary event (men's & women's).

The winners of the Master's Challenge receive a sponsored trip by the Chapter to the ITCC (with the one exception that those climbers are members of the Chapter AND work in the region of the Chapter).

Good Luck & Happy Climbing!

the southern chapter has in the past acknowledged the individual event winners w/ plaque and small prizes. all master contestants win gear and prizes increasing in amount according to place. 1st also paid trip to ITCC. there used to be some years ago actually I believe it was 6 yrs ago just before I started competing, the first place big prize was a buckle. the Charlotte Arborist Assc. has started that again, I think it is the best thing in the world to win as a prize. Something no one else can ever have, a symbol of what no one else did on that day. winning gear and prizes are cool, but winning an Eddie Simril "Rock'n Climb" tree special buckle is the coolest. of course I have not won a buckle yet but it sure is fun trying. maybe having one prize that reflects the fun spirit on competition.
