I have " OSHA INDUCED CONFUSION ". Can anyone tell me if a knuckleboom log loader (Prentice ) requires the same annual inspection as a crane?

They most likely should be inspected and probably is an OSHA requirement. You should contact the manufacturer for their suggested inspection specifications. Most likely only a very small percentage ever get inspected when you consider all of the loaders used in the logging industry that never even consider an inspection let alone follow through with an inspection.
osha standards are , any thing that goes up in the air needs a yearly inspection, simply said....
